Why this is important 1

The first reason that this is important is because it fundamentally shifts the psychological treatment of people.

Instead of giving people medication to treat negative emotions, you just need to help them be more effective at achieving their goals and they’ll experience more positive emotions.

Behavioural issues change from being ‘disorders’ to simply ineffective pathways to achieving a goal.

Why this is important 2

The second reason that this is important is it changes the nature of every problem that people face. Instead of having work issues or not knowing how to deal with their family members or struggling with relationships, the issue becomes an unfulfilled desire.

It changes the problem from “Jenny said…” and “My parents…” and “My boss…” to simply “I’m lacking…”

It removes the focus from the uncontrollable external world, to the controllable internal reality.
